JANESVILLE— Hazel C. Barker, 89, of Janesville, died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Cedar Crest Nursing Home. She was born on Sept. 23, 1917, in Arytown township Thayer, MO, the daughter of John and Susan (Ary) Hollis. Hazel married Robert E. Barker on March 30, 1940, in Madison, WI. She lived in Janesville most of her life where she was employed as a caregiver for several families. She was a past member of First Lutheran Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary. Hazel's comforting kindness, gentle touch and quick wit will be greatly missed by her family, a "special Granddaughter" Sue (Roger) Mulno, her "special girls" Kara Stecker and Konya Schuh, and Ken and Diane, the Cedar Crest Staff and all who surrounded her in life. She is survived by her 4 sons: Bruce (Mary) Barker of Janesville, Thomas (Denise) Barker of Wisconsin Rapids, Dale (Dee Simonson) Barker of Janesville, and Dean Barker of Delevan, WI; a daughter-in-law, Laura Barker of Janesville; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters-in-law: Ethel, Alice, Evelyn, Lucille, and Julianne Hollis; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; a son, Richard; a grandchild, Michael; 6 brothers: Orlie, Cloyce, Ervin, Paul, Donald, and Doy; and 2 sisters, Alta and Addie. Funeral services will be held at Friday at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2007, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.

this was the mother of two friends I went to school with and I also took care of her when I worked at a nursing home. I found it was an honor to take care of such a loving and high spirited lady. she really touched many many lives in a wonderfully postitive manner. I thank her for giving me the opertunity to serve her and to share in her life.
